FJCL Study Guides
The study guides can help give you an idea of which test(s) you may want to take at regionals/state. 50% of each study guide WILL appear on the test(s) you will be taking. They are a valuable asset. Additionally, taking previous tests is very wise because it will help you know exactly how prepared you are.

Ethan's Study Guides
Ethan Ream has created several enormous study guides. If you're taking a test for which there is a guide, and are from CC, email us and we'll send it to you ASAP. These are the following guides he has written:
Ancient Geography: 29 pages + 19 pages of maps
Regionals/States: this has a lot of information, however you will still need to study maps to learn where all the cities/regions are located. For levels 1 & 2, as long as you study maps well you can easily obtain 1st. Advanced would obviously be a little trickier, but with study, you can still easily win. - Nationals: if you memorize the guide completely and study maps extremely well you can definitely win any level and with thorough memorization, even win the Best in Show, as I did it in 2017.
Classical Art: 57 pages
This is hands down the best Classical Art study guide in the country. Period. Complete memorization guarantees the high score at Regionals, States, and Nationals (unless a fellow classmate beats you of course).
Customs: 77 pages
Regionals/States: there is an immense amount of information here, but if you are dedicated, the high score at both fora is easily attainable. Nationals: If you've memorized the entire guide you will easily get 1st in levels 1 & 2 and will even be a solid contender for the high score.
Greek Derivatives: 58 pages
These are two guides, one which was sent to me is is a fantastic guide. I memorized all of the Greek words (about 675) and I was able to score a 68 on the 2016 National test. The smaller guide was compiled by me from a couple old national tests and is also crucial to solidify a potential Best in Show. These guides completely memorized should be about enough to win the Best in Show. By going over previous tests you could easily boost your score enough to win it.
Greek Life & Literature: 25 pages
Regionals/States: it has a lot of information and is fairly comprehensive for levels 1 & 2. However it should be noted that at Regionals and States only questions about Literature will come up (life is only included at Nationals), so the FJCL guide should also be thoroughly memorized for that. - At Nationals it can get the 1st place score in level 1 & 2
Hellenic History: 15 pages
Regionals/States: this is entirely comprehensive for levels 1 & 2. It's most certainly more comprehensive than the FJCL guide and mayyybe could even be used to obtain 1st in Advanced at States, but that is doubtful. Nationals: It has enough info to easily get 1st in levels 1 & 2.
Latin Literature: 15 pages
Ben and Ethan Ream rewrote the FJCL study guide in August, 2019 as the original was very cumbersome, wordy, and didn't include several important authors. It's now a very solid guide that for novice and intermediate could easily get 1st at regionals and top 3 at states.
Latin Literature for intense JCLers: 95 pages
This guide, written by a former JCLer from Wisconsin is the greatest Latin Lit guide in the country. Only a handful people in the country will ever truly memorize it.

2. This link also has TONS of derivatives.

Mythology
A great mythology starter book is, D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths. It's very easy to read and unlike many mythology books is appropriate for all ages. (Approximate Cost: $10-15)
After reading through D'Aulaires' a couple times you should be ready to upgrade to Classical Mythology by Mark Morford and Robert Lenardon. (Approximate cost: $7)
The final step is Edward Tripp's Meridian Handbook of Classical Mythology. This book is very dense with knowledge, but is readable. You will definitely be best prepared for it if you already have some knowledge in mythology. (Approximate cost: $7)
1. This link has a bunch of good study material and other links on it.
2. Hercules Study Guide This guide deals solely with Hercules and was originally created to study for the 2015 Medusa Mythology Exam.
