The Tallahassee Classical Conversations Latin Club began in the 2011-2012 school year under the guidance of Mrs. Carla Wilson simply as a group of students to take the NCEE and NLE. However, Mrs. Bethany Barnard took over shortly after, and we began our JCL journey.
In January of 2012, Classical Conversations attended its first Regional convention with only eight students.
Two years later, in April 2014, the Latin Club sent its first delegation of eleven students to the State convention in Orlando.
Then, in 2015, after only four years as a JCL chapter, CC won the 2015 Regional Olympika championship and didn't look back.
In July 2015 the club sent two delegates for the first time in nationwide CC history to the National Convention in San Antonio. They performed very well and came home with eleven awards, totaling over 50 sweepstakes points.

2016 marked the fifth year of the Latin Club's existence. At Regionals, the club took a record 30 students, repeating our Olympika championship, in addition to placing 3rd overall. The momentum carried over to the State Forum where CC placed 16th overall - our first time breaking the top 20 barrier.
In 2016, Nationals was held at Indiana University, and CC again sent two delegates. Building on the knowledge gained by the previous year's attendance, they participated in dozens of contests, won their respective Open Certamen levels, and brought home more than 30 awards combined!
In 2017, the Latin Club again broke its record of students sent to Regionals with 32. In addition to breaking the club attendance record, we sent 5 certamen teams across the three levels of competition, winning the Intermediate and Advanced divisions. The club finished 4th overall and 3rd in Olympika. At States, the club sent 15 students who returned with almost 30 awards and nearly a dozen trophies.
Nationals 2017 was CC's greatest national performance to date. To our benefit, nationals was right next door in Troy, Alabama, and as a result we sent 8 members! For the second time ever, we had a member on the Florida Certamen team, and they made finals! We also had one member win three highscores and place in overall academics, overall sweepstakes, and the Lillie B. Hamilton award. This was the first time in nearly a decade that anyone nationwide had triple highscored while placing top 10 overall. Our club members' total haul surpassed more than 65 awards in total. We couldn't have been prouder.
Then, in 2020, while making our ninth regional forum appearance, CC finally brought home the big one by winning the Regional Championship for the first time in school history. At the forum, CC swept all levels of certamen along with our second novice and advanced teams both winning second place as well. To cap off our performance, we won Olympika for the 3rd year in a row and 5th time in 6 years. It was by far the most dominating performance by any school at regionals in many years.
In April 2020, we established our iron hold on FJCL Certamen as we won Novice and Advanced Certamen and took 2nd in Intermediate during the online state forum tournament.
In 2022 after the JCL's two lost years, we began our comeback by winning our fourth 1st place Olympika sweepstakes trophy in a row - our 6th in 7 years - along with the Intermediate and Advanced certamen divisions. At states we had one of our greatest achievements to date as we took home 8th place overall - our first time ever breaking the top 15 barrier. At nationals, three of our JCL'ers played on Florida's Advanced certamen team, which won by beating TN and MA. Most importantly this was CC'er William Muniz's ticket into the Certamen Hall of Fame where he joined his brother Robert, who had been inducted three years prior.
Regionals in 2023 saw CC capture its second regional title in just three years. We also won the Olympika championship for the 5th year in a row and our 7th time in 8 years.
